Patient Guide

Emory Vision understands that exploring the possibility of a vision correction procedure is one of your most important undertakings.  We complete an extremely thorough custom evaluation that includes using two different Wavefront systems for mapping your cornea.  Then we double and triple check the results to provide a complete assessment of the best options for each individual’s vision improvement.

At the end of your custom Emory Vision Consultation, your physician, along with the Emory Vision clinical team, will produce a personal vision profile —detailing the shape of your eyes, how they respond in various lighting situations, how well they work together and whether there are any factors that could negatively affect your surgical outcome, such as dry eyes. Your surgeon will personally confer with you and review the best options for improving your vision. Emory Vision's consultation, or initial exam, is as high-tech and detail-oriented as the surgery itself. As a matter of fact, you may spend more time at our center for your evaluation than you do for your surgery. Why? Because unlike some centers, our goal at Emory Vision is not to get patients into surgery. Our goal is to gather every piece of valuable information available, using the latest technology, to produce the most well-informed patients and prepare them for a remarkable experience. Then, together, you will discuss the available options for improving your vision and arrive at a decision about the best solution for your vision needs.

Before your consultation:
For patients scheduling a custom consultation, here are some of the forms that you will need to complete.  For your convenience, you can print them out and complete them prior to your arrival.
1) Patient Registration
2) Medical History Form

The day of your consultation:
Your eyes will be dilated during your custom examination, so we recommend that you arrange for transportation back to your home or hotel, rather than driving yourself.

Reminder: If you wear contact lenses:

Leave out soft lenses for a minimum of 72 hours and gas permeable lenses for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to your examination.
